ASC Pop Warner Football

Ages 5 to 14 / July - October

First Day of Practice is July 22nd, 2013

Pop Warner Football

ASCPW uses the official rule book of Pop Warner little Scholars which has strict rules regarding safety of the players. All players are required to have 10 hours of conditioning without gear and 10 hours of practice with full gear before participating in a game. Weigh-ins are conducted before each game to ensure a level playing field and that all required paperwork is in place. The mandatory play rule is strictly followed to ensure that all players have the opportunity to participate in the game. All teams in the league are guaranteed 8 official games in the regular season not counting play-offs.

ASCPW stresses the importance of scholastic achievement, requiring a 2.0 to participate in games. We combine sports and scholastics for a positive experience.   ASCPW recognizes scholastic achievement an annual Sean McAlpine Scholastic and Volunteer Banquet.  In addition, the National Pop Warner organization recognizes these same achievements with their National scholastic awards banquet.  Athletes with less than a 2.0 may participate but are required to submit progress reports once school is in session. For more information on scholastics – see the scholastics tab.

In the 16 years that ASC Pop Warner has competing we have sent football teams to California to compete in the Regional competition 9 of those years and 5 years went on to compete nationally in Disneyworld in Orlando Florida. The highlight of those years being in 2006, when the Midget Eagles from Anchorage played in the Pop Warner Super bowl and took second in the Nation. Many of the NFL players that are playing today started their career playing football for Pop Warner. Pop Warner is endorsed by the NFL and the NFL Players Association and a partner of the IFL.

This year (2013)- football players will be required to pay $295 in order to secure a spot on a roster. The price has not been increased since 2010, rather it now includes all mandatory fees - in a one time payment. The $295.00 includes the players $195.00 Registration fee, $35.00 Association Administrative fee and $65.00 for a new jersey and Pop Warner patch. Equipment purchases are optional and costs are seperate.
